DJI Inspire 3 Secures Approval from Netflix

For the first time in history, the DJI Inspire 3 and its Zenmuse X9-8K Air camera have officially become a part of Netflix’s elite Approved Camera List. This is the first time ever that a drone has been able to achieve such a distinction, showcasing the Inspire 3’s professional-grade capabilities and making a mark in high-end film production.

For years, drones have captured fantastic aerial shots as supplementary tools. Now, with Netflix’s support, the Inspire 3 steps into the spotlight as a primary camera system for 4K Originals. This doesn’t just show its imaging power but also reflects DJI’s first-ever appearance on Netflix’s list, which is itself an achievement that underscores its growing influence in the professional cinematography industry.

Netflix’s approval isn’t handed out in a light manner. Every camera on the list has to follow the high technical standards, such as its criteria for dynamic range, resolution, color accuracy, signal-to-noise ratio, and workflow compatibility, etc. The Inspire 3, with its Zenmuse X9-8K Air camera, very well surpasses these criteria, providing the quality and reliability that filmmakers need for visually stunning productions. To facilitate creatives, DJI has also launched a special Camera Production Guide to maintain best practices in capturing Netflix content using the Inspire 3.

Central to the success of the Inspire 3 is the Zenmuse X9-8K Air, the lightest-ever full-frame gimbal camera by DJI. It internally captures both 8K/25fps CinemaDNG and 8K/75fps Apple ProRes RAW formats, up to the visual standards of high-end storytelling. It has dual native ISO for clear images in low-light conditions as well as high-light conditions and more than 14 stops of dynamic range that capture details in shadows as well as highlights. This transforms the Inspire 3 into a real workhorse capable of producing cinema-quality visuals in the sky.

The ability of the drone goes beyond its camera. With TB51 intelligent batteries, it is possible for it to be in flight for up to 28 minutes. It has a maximum speed of more than 58 mph, which provides filmmakers with the opportunity to choreograph rapid, fluid, and detailed aerial maneuvers without pause.

Netflix’s approval not only confirms the Inspire 3’s performance but also showcases a big change in the market. As drones get smarter, cheaper, and certified for high-end productions, they are revolutionizing the way filmmakers pre-visualize, capture, and deliver content. The Inspire 3 is now a symbol of that revolution—simplifying workflows, reducing equipment requirements, and bringing professional aerial filming within reach like never before.

Whether you’re capturing an indie feature or a Netflix original, the DJI Inspire 3 provides studio-quality results with next-generation flexibility.
