Motors are marine-coated 3510-class, propellers are quick-release carbon fibre with marine corrosion resistance. After saltwater operations rinse the airframe, motors and propellers with fresh water — included in our DGCA pilot training program. What about fishing drones — bait drop, line release, FPV?

Can the drones carry custom payloads or third-party sensors?

Yes — the SplashDrone 4 in particular is built around an open API and a UART/TTL pass-through serial port between the drone and the controller. This means third-party sensors mounted on the drone can stream their data through the controller to a ground station or laptop. Multiple interface ports allow simultaneous control and attachment of different modules. xBoom’s engineering team integrates third-party cameras, sensors, sonar and bait dispensers per use-case.

Is the falconry drone really for falconers?

Yes — it’s a niche but growing use case. Falconers use the drone to fly a lure at a controlled altitude, simulating prey for the falcon to chase, building strength and conditioning. The drone carries up to 2 kg of lure, holds altitude in winds up to Beaufort 7, and uses two payload-release mechanisms (manual remote-trigger or TrollSafe tension-trigger) for clean lure release.
